I pitied when I saw you,
My heart aghast when my eyes looked into yours,
My soul appalled at your very touch,
I forsake God when I met his abhorrent creation.
I looked at you from the corner of my eye,
For hours I gazed and questioned
The mortal sin which bestowed the curse
You were no princess,
no fairy angel.
I saw the lips that could have been ruby red
But smiled in a joy I’ll never know
I saw the eyes that had no sea
But sparkled besides.
To me it felt
You were felony of an age gone by
To me the heart that never content
Bade loathing to the flower.
The shade of the tree in the burning sun
The bird never does ask for green
It goes content by the cool
The mirror, the candle, the illusion.
I looked at you when you smiled
I looked at you when u slept
I looked beneath the dusty skin
I looked at the soul.
The soul ever merciful
The cry compassionate
The tear of joy
The hand of kindness.
I understood then
For I pitied myself
The age would go by
The mirror would finally lie.
The joy shall linger
Empathy follow
Kindness belie God
For you shall love and have a heart.
